brigitte bardot

french, former model, actress and singer.

was born in Paris, 28 september 1934

she still lives today, though she does look drastically different. (:

just sayin'

one of the sexiest women. like, ever?

oozes sexiness out of her ears.

Gemma Ward (model) as Brigitte Bardot, by Karl Lagerfeld!

just thought I'd share what I happen to be browsing.
also I just remembered that whilst I was overseas, I picked up quite alot of pictures of random things I really liked, (over the interwebz) ranging from pictures of celebs, to pictures of scenes to drawings.
would love to share, but I don't want to make this into a freakin' tumbler ._."

nothing againist tumblr. of course. (:

images, are not mine. found on google!

customising my zara bag from barcelona!

So I bought myself a bag from Zara which cost me 40euros!

the story of how I ended up with this bag instead of another one is on YouTube, I got it in barcelona in anycase.

its not really about the bag, but like it shows the other bag I wanted to buy but didn't. Sarah owns that bag now.
so this is my bag! I bought it cause I really liked the shape and size, and its got 6 compartments, its just mega practical la. which is totally me.

it actually fits my laptop, which is freaking great.

so, its a bit plain, which is fine, but I just thought it'd be nice to personalise it a bit.

and this is what I have to decorate it.

pins from my secondary school, which include my secondary school badge.
pins from london (anti-smoking/telephone booth)
pins that are in the shape of musical instruments, also from london!
pins from phantom of the opera part 1 and 2.
and of course badges from EARTHHOUR, bought them to show support.
and a vintage scarf that I bought for a euro, shown later.

how I placed the pins.

tied a pretty scarf to the side! which is vintage and has cigarette burns in it because the scarf is exactly at my wrist level lol. damn.
and this is what it looks like done. yes I know, I put super a lot of nonsense on it, and maybe you would prefer it without all the pins and only the scarf.

just an idea of what you can do to a basic bag to make it look like. awesome (:

just sayin'

I will post a picture of me carrying it out sooner or later.

I just hope the pins don't like fall out or anything!

spring is here!!!!!

well! spring is here, it started the very day I left rome. sadly. the 21st of march. so accordingly, spring is to bring flower prints and... colours right?

tbh I have never been a fan of the whole
spring/summer = violent colours
winter/autumn = totally toned down.

not my thing. toned down automatically means less happy? (great depression) like I think it paints winter as a more depressing season in terms of colours, which I don't believe in at all!

well. then again, I wear whatever the hell I want anyway so. :D
I was the only person in winter sporting a pink coat (pale pink but pink nonetheless), everyone else wore black D: which is nice and everything but. yes, abit boring to look at in the metro.

I think any style can be worn anytime. really.

sorry sidetracked again. so looking through lookbook, which for me just keeps me up with what people are wearing nowadays, colour blocking is back.
*cringe.

I be loving her socks though!

her bag. *dies. reminds of me the new plastic JS for addidas shoes. which are btw, freaking gorgeous.
tadah! super chio <3

back to colour blocking, its not that I don't do it or by any means hate it(that much). its just that when I see it being done, its usually with really... off colours.
like the jacket, I really don't like that green at all.

and I don't know, accessories tend to take a step back, and.. the colours are really garishly bright, and maybe I just really don't like super loud colours in so much access I guess.
her pants somehow made it to a colour so vibrant it went off the tangerine colour charts.
mmph.

I don't know everyone seems to go back to primary colours, like the really super... bright ones and wear huge blocks of it. me no likes.

I would probably wear that purple as a top or shoes (smaller surface area).

but then again, I was looking through the stuff I did like from lookbook and I guess I am kind of boring D:

I need to find stocking like that. fer real.such a nice use of print in an outfit.
lovin' rosary earring.

I guess my style at the moment is more laid back. I do believe I wear more colour than the pictures above though. :S

and I'm sorry winter is over, I do so love what they deem winter colours.
oh well, it'll be back in 6 months :D

xx. J

ps. all above pictures were from lookbook, the owners have all rights to them, and I obviously don't own any.

Crackle polish!

been super excited to try out crackle polish!
so last night I got my haul from karen and tried it out!
white on a... darkish natural colour.
applied the white crackle over.it dries matt so I put a top coat...and it looks exactly the same here but its shiny!

and the final product!
I think its super chio la, but I wish my nails were longer. I hate my short nails.
conclusion. it works? lol
got it in grey as well. idk what I'll use as a base colour, natural pink?

see how see how
xx. J

venice

SINCE, I'm already on blogger, might as well post this.

I was in Venice a couple of days back, I was sadly SADLY too late for the world famous Venice carnival.

Reasons why its world famous:
pictures are copyright to whoever took them. etcetc

during the carnival of Venice, people dress up in such costumes and walk around. imagine.

if you wanna know more about it, google it? lol sorry. the visuals of google images paint a better idea.

You get my drift la, but honestly the pictures don't do the masks or costumes justice.
super bummed I didn't get to see people actually walking around in the costumes and such, I did however of course explore all the mask shops. and its amazing. sadly, photography is prohibited, but I did buy a very simple lace mask for myself.

Alot of the masks didn't fit me quite right cause my face isn't of a european build so. ohwell.
I filmed venice and will post it on my youtube channel... like in a monthish or so.

xx J.

shit.

oh my goodness god. OH MY GOODNESS GOD.

I'm obviously heavily censoring myself.

I leave Europe to come home to sg in like 2 days? and I just unpacked everything from my suitcase which I have been living out of for.... about.... almost 2 months la.

Obviously, I have acquired plenty of new possessions (just a different way to say I shop too super much)

but I didn't think it was... THIS MUCH.

I'm in a serious knot right now.
I'm allowed 30kg.
thing is....
I CAME TO EUROPE WITH 30 KG.

and honestly I think my stuff has bred and multiplied like bunnies.
aiyah how?

I want to take pictures of all the pretty things for show and tell (: but I don't have photoshop on my computer since it got wiped out.

How do you define style?

the one thing driving me to write this post is pure irritation, which probably isn't a good thing. when I'm irritated I tend to say things I regret, but never mind!

there is this sentence which I tend to try to stand by and follow,

People can be and do whatever they want as long as they don't hurt anyone and are happy/comfortable with themselves.

so this would imply that I don't judge, which I try my hardest to do, but obviously I'm no saint.

what I'm getting at is that, in relation to fashion and what attire people choose to adorn, I really REALLY can't stand it when people trash what other people choose to wear, as in really trash talk it. Usually I would be like, oh dear goodness, what on earth is she/he wearing? Looks like something out of a halloween shop, and I end my criticism there.

Some people, and when I say some people, I'm referring to sites or shows where stylist 'gurus' or just writers in general completely bash a celeb for wearing something.

what brought this about was when I googled Taylor Momsen, I like her sense of style, she maybe a little underdressed for my tastes, but I think her long blonde waist length hair goes very well with her, rockish-trashy* style.

*Trashy, I consider this a style I actually like, not as an insult, that doesn't mean I like dressing trashy but some elements of the genre(?) can be used for everyday dressing.

Back to Taylor M., I got onto this site which was comparing young starlets to each other in terms of dressing and elegance and all that.

http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2010/06/29/trashy-stars-miley-cyrus-taylor-momsen-lindsay-lohan-classy-stars-taylor-swift-kristen-stewart-photos/

and that would be the site, feel free to go take a look if you're interested in a load of crap.

So for contenders you had, Miley Cyrus vs Kristen Stewart, Taylor Momsen vs. Taylor Swift things like that.

I found this. horrifying.

Picture of Miley in a tight leather(?) tube dress with a sweetheart neckline, which obviously emphasized her, assets. and Kristen with a long sleeved dress with honestly what looked to me like random pieces of fabric that were tact-ed onto the dress with no real reason. it certainly didn't flatter. (see, my opinion, I could have said nasty things about it, but its her choice to wear the dress, I'm just saying that I wouldn't)

Kristen was marked as Elegant, whilst Miley, Trashy.

Basically, the website was saying, oh, you can gracefully go from being a young star to an adult actress without going the slut route, here they inserted Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan as an example.

Here is what pissed me off, who the are you to say how they should dress as they advance in their careers?

and besides that, what BAD comparisons. How is Taylor Swift in anyway like Miley Cyrus. Taylor Swift has such a different sense of style, hers is more, pretty, more country, and much more princess. Whether this is her personal style or something she adopted because it good image for the sort of audience and style of music she was going for, it works on her. She looks comfortable and happy doing what shes doing.

obviously, from the website, lets take the worst photo of miley ever and put it up againist Taylor in Concert in which she plays COUNTRY music.

has it ever occured that Miley looks like this too?

never the less I just googled Miley in 2011 and she HAS changed her style to something more, questionable.

please tell me how a concert photo of Taylor singing for her band is the same as wearing something for the red carpet. please enlighten.
she could look like this too.
or if I'm being a hypocrite showing photoshoot pictures of her and not of her on the red carpet, this is what she looks like in a red carpet
is that trashy? I think not?

this I found hilarious, again, photoshoot in comparison to redcarpet. PLEASE.

again, concert in comparison to red carpet.

THIS, I just found beyond unbelievable. how is lady gaga's mass fan base even remotely close to Carrie Underwood's? country vs. pop? er. hello?

its like comparing,

Elvis to...
Charlotte Church.
NO LINK AT ALL!

and one more...

how is a leaked porno picture in anyway the same as a 50s bikini at the beach. *palmsforehead.

I'm getting slightly carried away here.

Basically what I wanted to say is that, I don't think magazines/writers/tv should bash and trash what starlets or people in general wear. I think its mean because after all, its only their OPINIONS. Its THEIR lives. I find it distasteful when people think that there is only one way to dress. that there is only ONE way to be elegant. URGH.

the way they say it make it sound like its a crime to wear something like that out, to have a style different from the rest and that there is only one way to dress to look elegant. which in my opinion is complete rubbish!

I think different is wonderful, if not all of us look like robots coming out of a factory, where is the fun then?

if your sort of elegant is wearing a long simple black dress with lovely goldball sized diamond studs on your ears, then wonderful for you. because that is always a classic oozes elegance and sophistication.

but if your sort of elegance is wearing an absolutely over the top Oscar De La Renta gown, or a Machesa gown, then good for you as well!

I would personally choose the latter, but thats just me, my opinion.

I believe that no matter what you wear, if you feel great and beautiful in it, you will carry it off. Confidence makes such a difference.

So bottom line, I hate people who impose their views and write/talk in a way that suggests there is only one way of dressing. Who do not accept that different can be beautiful too. Magazine tend to suggest there is are only several different styles that Look Good, and little girls that pick up Teen Vogue and the sort and strive to look like that.

I'm not saying that is bad, I'm just saying, I wish fashion was promoted or brought across to people in a more approachable sense. That no one has to fit in a cookie cutter world, that everything has variation.

So instead of a fashion magazine being a bible, it should be used as, a source of inspiration, something you can flip through and find something you like, and wear it in whatever way you like. Same goes for this blog.

Fashion is a medium of expression. No one is the same, so no one has the exact same sense of style.

Thats the message I think that gets lost in all these magazines and critique.

xoxo J.q

Ps: I don't know if what I wrote makes the same sense it does in my head :S

AND I don't any of the pictures I've posted, they belong to the people who have taken them, etc etc. All were found on google or the site I mentioned earlier. cheers!
