I know I promised the DIY nail polish rack stage 2, but it kind of fell apart a few days later. Don't I inspire so much great faith in my own DIY skills? You totally want to do your own DIY now right? Lol.

Ok, what really happened was that the tape I used to secure the rack wasn't strong enough. To be precise, it wasn't sticky enough. I knew $0.80 for a whole roll was too good to be true. So now I need to switch up from masking tape to duct tape before I post and cause others distress also! Tehehe.

In the meantime, check out this cool chart done up by Michèle of lacquerized.com . A list of all the possible nail polish finishes.

I know what kind of a polish girl I am. I love cremes, jellies, glass flecks, holos and the occasional glitter. If I had to pick just one favourite, it has to be cremes. I don't like shimmer and I don't like frost, pearl and irridence even more. I knew this all along, just didn't know what they were called all this time.

So what kind of a finish are you? Share with us below!

the backstage crew behind fashion

when designing something, we draw it out, and think about how it would look like in our head.
in fashion, in order to make our sketches reality, we have to draft and drape, to tweak and fiddle with fabric until the idea in our head finally comes to life.

in design school, this is what happens, the only times it doesn't is because we are

a. lazy
b. we screwed up therefore lazy to redo
c. do not have the technical ability to accomplish what we want
d. the drew the garment sketch without using our brains, which means the garment is impossible to make and therefore we are idiots.

when drafting or draping my own garments, it is common to see me pretending to be dead, sprawled out on my table, cursing and swearing at my inanimate fabric or mannequin, walking around the class to go disturb other people. :D

mcqueen 2010 fall rtw, style.com

when I see runways with couture or see excellent garments with amazing CUT. I bow my head in respect.

(sidenote: garment on top, style.com has each individual garment on video. please go watch it move! it looks afuckingmazing! Visit style.com, click on MOVE IT! its located under slideshower and all that.)

its the people who are the drafters and the drapers, who are the geniuses that make garments what they are, who are the first step to
realisation.

nicholas caito, is one of these people! he explains what a modelist is better than I ever would.

just saying :D

again, a sneaker post!

I swaggered my way into adidas the other day at iluma, and then I realised what they had on display!
the JS on fire adidas, of course I had to try it on and completely whore it out. It wasn't ridiculously expensive at 345SDG but as a starving artist, I can't afford.
what I liked about this pair (which I would have probably ran out of the store with had it not been a couple of sizes too big) is the detail you realise it has AFTER you see the shoe IRL, which means its basically super chio in real life.
the laces gradient from yellow to orange upward! the only thing about the shoe is... its abit impractical. the fire extends so far backward that when you turn around it catches each other.
very odd feeling and I think I nearly tripped afew times.
image: incrediblethings.com

Even though,
- they are a couple of sizes too big,
- way over my budget,
- made me trip about twice in 5 minutes,
- totally impractical.

I still want these shoes.
like now.

Nail Wheels

Oh yes, you read right: Nail Wheels.

I swatched all my nail polishes on nail wheels just so that it's easier for me to pick colours when I want to paint my nails. You know how sometimes you pick up a bottle and you can't quite remember how it appears on the nail (because polishes tend to do that.). Yeah, that happens to me a lot! Hence the nail wheel, and it's easier to look at.

So today I thought I'd show you my small, but substantial nail wheel collection. (lawls, I have a collection for my nail wheels).

Note: Pictures here may not be a 100% accurate because they're shot to showcase the wheel not the swatches.

The Yellows/Reds/Pinks
IMG_1258

Haha, I think everyone can tell what my color-addiction is.

The Greens/Blues/Purples
IMG_1257
I like this wheel, I think it is pretty damn decent

The Whites/Blacks/And Everything Else
IMG_1260
These are basically my polishes that I feel don't quite fit the colour spectrum. Also includes my Nubar 2010, Gosh Holographic and 4 China Glaze Crackles which turned out really badly here, I think you need a basecoat for crackles to adhere to. So I'm going to try those again.

The Neutrals
IMG_1259
Lols, I only have 3 neutrals so it's a small wheel.

And that's my entire nail polish collection there (as at 10 May 2011). The day I discovered China Glaze, was the day I decided to disown all my previous nail polishes, so I technically have some more colours, but they're all destined for the bin.

I like this system, but I'm not in love with it, because I'm thinking of how I'm going to swatch my new polishes in future. I would definitely want them in order by gradient. (hoho, yes, I am quite the OCD. Don't lie, I know you are too!) So it's in planning but I haven't got anything out yet. Will keep you all in the loop when it happens though.

How do you keep track of your polishes? Manually, digitally, using swatches also? Share with us in the comments below!

Next week, I'll show you how I physically organise my nail polishes with the DIY nail polish rack I built. Some of you may have seen the stage 1 rack, but now it's going into stage 2 so keep an eye out!

Much Love,
Karen.

Jeremy Scott shoes @ Soul Club

So I went down to Soul club (old supperclub) last thursday cause there was to be a runway show, the Limited Edition Kicks fashion show, featuring shoes and stuff by Adidas, Nike, Puma and a few others.

I went there with the intention to BUY, IF they had the shoes I wanted. I have been raving about this pair since I got back from Europe cause I only found out of its existence when I saw my friend walking around with GlowInTheDark shoes, by Nike.

I later found out that adidas have just released a pair, and even better? with wings. because they're by Jeremy Scott.
WAH. seriously, could you imagine a cooler shoe?

look at thoses babies go.

So I went online to hunt for this shoe and came back super disheartened, because I had missed the shoe coming to singapore by, 2 weeks. seriously. omg. and now if I still want the pair, of course I could get it, but at $350 ish USD? money which, simply put, I literally do not have.

So I went to this show at soul hoping and praying they had it, sadly, when I got there I didn't see it. I did however see the see-through adidas by JS, on display.

collected from sneakernews

When I saw this pair online for the first time, I was like, ZOMG SO KEWLS. but then I realised after, no one would really notice you have transparent shoes on, because you would be wearing socks, and ontop of that you can't wear ratty socks cause everyone would be able to see the holes in them.
not sexy.

but its still a sexy shoe, I would wear it out in a heartbeat.

here are a few pictures of the show, courtesy from the girls at Lolitalane
I sadly didn't think to bring my camera that night, was too preoccupied with thinking about the possibility of getting the shoes I wanted.

WING-ED JS VEST OMG. so so pretty. like a frikkin' angel.
see through FBTs 0_0the overall feel of the show, was very....
young
hip
fun
bright
vibrant
all the words that you would expect.

some of the models were great though, really getting into whole mood and bringing the energy up.
the stylist was super bright colours and at one point, some of the models came out in boxers and such. not too sure where that was going.
the make up, was super amazing though.

Claris from Lolitalane was wearing the Pink Bears by JS.
I think the bears are adorable and all, but I wouldn't push it by wearing the pink version of this shoe. the brown ones would do fine.
they gave this pair of shoes to the best girl dancer that night, which obviously wasn't me. so. boo.
the night was fun. would have been awesome to win the shoes, so I could sell them, and buy my glow in the dark jeremy scotts. :3
shallt stop complaining.

-

to finish this post off, would just like to share a couple of the things I've loved from adidas,

I don't know how to express how much I love this hoodie, when I was young, all I wanted to do was get a full back of angel wings tattooed, I kinda still do.

I've still always had this obsession with wings, freedom and this hoodie totally would do it for me. like love.

-

another thing I found from adidas, and mind you I saw this one in real life, and loved it. not realising what it was.

its like. ohmygawdwhatthefuck kinda cute. I saw it going for like 700 euros though, I later went home to search for information on it.

This was a special edition done for Vday.

BUT I THINK IT LOOKS LIKE HELLO KITTY. lovelovelove.
its just so frikkin adorable, and would look amazing peeping out of jeans. omg!

I probably have more loves, but can't summon them to mind as of now.

If anyone has any adidas loves, pls tell me!

Street spotted!

the other day at work, one of my best friends decided to pay me a visit, Nicky!
he and Joy stopped by to stay hi :DI insisted on taking their picture cause I thought they looked super cool XDJoy had on a jacket with a ripped-ish white dress which looked super nice on her, but I would never be able to pull off. *coughjealouscough*
And she tottered around on sky-high black pump heels.
super well put together no?
I completely spaced that I should've probably asked where she got everything ._.

Joy looked super awesome. And apparently that day on the streets they were asked if they could have their picture taken for another fashion blog.
Aiseh, they look like they would be a super good couple can.
nicky looking supa sharp :3
his jacket is vintage
his super cool leather tie was a gift.
super jealous cause I would love a leather tie too.
thing is with ties and girls, there is a fine line between fashionable and looking like Avril Lavigne from her SK8TER BOI phase.
safety pin in ear for good measure.
redsocks + all black converse.

converse are the best la ok. hands down. anything goes.

I acquired a new pair of sunnies recently!
this is my first pair of branded sunnies and me loves,
its from Marc By Marc Jacobs
this is just a really quick snap of it.
its, I guess you would call it turtleshell... coloured? for the frame.
what I've been searching for is a pair of turtle shells because they're just so.. classic and go with practically everything.

this was the pair I've been eye-ing for about... 5 coming to 6 years now? I wanted to go buy it but now its gone. so. I have to keep dreaming I suppose.

Its from bvlgari and has swarovski crystals down the side.

the reason I wanted specifically this pair and nothing else is because it fits my face perfect. like PERFECT. I still want this pair and hope to get it.

I don't really change glasses, I own 2 pairs now. The other one from mango.

I generally prefer to get branded sunnies, I mean, I'll be using them for a long time and so I wanna know they're not going to fall apart on me randomly. and also because of the UV protection, which I find is super important.

--
and just a random accessories sidenote on what I had on today:
studded cuff, HK ($4)
acrylic army print bow, Paris (10euro)
top rings F21 ($7)
botton rings Primark (4pounds I THINK)

Big Kitty WUT?

Hey Guys,

It's been some time, I could explain but I would rather not. I have some other posts planned but have no time to piece them together (or take photos that is) but when I saw this, I had to post, I had to know!

So here I was, browsing the internet in my home clothes, shopping online for shoes and bags (because shopping cures all manners of depression in the shortest times possible) when I saw, this:

I mean, that thing is HUGE. I tried searching Sanrio.com to see if it was sold there; nope. (And I struggled with finding "Sanrio" because I kept spelling "Sanyo" which is a brand name I often see because of work -.-")

How I came to know of this is because there is a local "Spree-er" who is able to get a hold of these knock-off Hello Kitty Bags, prices listed between SGD$52-$77 depending on size, postage not inclusive. She's also got another type of bag based on rabbits instead of cats.

If you're interested, leave a comment to this post with your e-mail and I will link you to it. I'm sure there are some other sellers but this is the one I found, and note: I've never bought from this seller before so no guarantees, just a suggestion. I won't link it here because we're not affiliated and this is a non-commercial blog. Period.

Yeah, and I can't find the original bag anywhere. Either it's a phantom or my research skills really suck.

So anyway, here are my questions:

1) Would you buy it? Dis-regarding the cost factor, geniuine or knock-off.
2) Would you buy it? Regard the cost factor.
3) Would you carry it out and use it as a bag? (Because I would assume you'd buy it and display it in your room like you would a stuffed figure that size)

And let's also get this out on the table now. I am not a Hello Kitty fanatic. This is just a curious post.

Leave your comments below because we all like comments!

So, while I was getting this post together, I was supposed to be working (but then I ended up shopping), so time's lost which I must work back now. And %)^%*&*!*^)*!% me, but there is seriously a lot of red-tape involved in blogging. I'm never going to use commercial pictures ever again! (By which I actually mean, I'm going to keep it to a minimum, like, 0.1% of the time kind of minimum)

p.s. I know these pictures are from 2009. Leave this rock-dwelling being alone!!! :(

outfit post

I have gone out a few times already thinking, okay today I'll take a picture of what I'm wearing and actually post it. but I totally forget when I'm out.

so I decided to quickly take before I left the house yesterday, thinking I'll get a proper full body photo outside. obviously I didn't -_-

this is what I would wear for a lazy day out.

because I didn't put much thought into what I wore I picked a few accessories to at least look like I didn't just roll out of bed.

Here I have:
-Rosary from The Vatican (Roma)
-LOVELOVELOVE plastic bangle from a set I got in HK, which was super ex, $40SGD
-black and white diamond ring thing, about $4 I think.

I just piled on what I had in blackish tones.
-F21 pink flower ring, $10 I think?
-And a punkish bracelet from peninsula, cause I roll like that.

-hello kitty earstuds from claire's which I bought in Zurich.

Claire's is actually a french brand which is alot like Accesorize, I really like both of them! super cute designs, which are unique but their prices are abit scary at times. but come sales, hoho.

-the golden rabbit with dangling legs I got in HK.
-faux diamontee dangle earring from this random cheap ass store in Berlin, it was like 50eurocents for a pair.

honestly, I didn't wear this stuff on the occasion of going out, I have had these studs/earrings in for I would think a week now? I like just putting everything together to see what you get.this pendant I've had since forever, I think I got it when I was in holiday in thailand like eons ago. I tend to only buy pendants, and like put them on a velvet string. I like chokers!
make up for the day super simple, shimmerish pinkish-white with eyeliner.
my hellokitty jumper thing I got from H&M when I was in hongkong, I wear this on rainy days cause its abit thick.

xx. J
